Mother Shipton

The Mother Shipton is a day-flying moth that is usually seen taking short, rapid flights in bright sunshine during May and June. It's name refers to the markings on is forewings which look a bit like an old lady or witch.
It occurs in a range of habitats from wasteland, woodland rides to heathland but is most numerous on railway embankments and disused quarries and spoilbanks.
